Recently, three Kalenjin MPs kicked off a campaign tailored to pile pressure on Deputy President William Ruto to ditch President Uhuru Kenyatta and run for presidency in the 2017 General Election.
The MPs, all drawn from United Republican Party (URP), reasoned that the DP stands a high chance of clinching the top seat in this election than in 2022 as there is no guarantee that the Kikuyu community will support “our son” to succeed Kenyatta.
