Kenya: One passenger was shot dead and three others injured after their bus was sprayed with bullets by bandits in West Pokot County.
Confirming the incident, Pokot County Commissioner Seif Matata said the bus, 'Dayah Express', which was travelling from Lodwar to Kitale, was sprayed with bullets by unknown number of bandits, who were hidding along the road in Kambi Karai.
"One person succumbed to the gunshot injuries while three others sustained injuries. The bandits had ordered the bus to stop but the driver sped off, leading to the shooting," he said.
Mr Matata said the incident took place at 11am along Lodwar-Pokot road, adding the bandits escaped to the bushes after the shooting.
He, however, maintained that General Service Unit and Administration Police officers are pursuing the bandits.

"The road is currently safe and passengers should not worry about their safety. Police have mounted roadblocks along the highway," said Matata.
He added that the injured are currently receiving treatment at Kapenguria county referral hospital, while the body was taken to the facility's mortuary.
Motorists have in the past complained about bandits who pounce on them along the highway.
