Jubilee MPs reject CORD’s call for dialogue

Samburu, Kenya: Political leaders from Samburu County have disowned Coalition for Reforms and Democracy’s (CORD) demands for national dialogue with the Government.

Speaking in Maralal’s Kenyatta Stadium during Madaraka Day celebrations, the TNA and URP politicians said the Government has more important issues to tackle and has no time for the demands by the Opposition.

They also condemned CORD’s Saturday rally at Uhuru Park, saying it was demeaning to patriotism, pointing out that the US flags some of the CORD supporters were waving undermined true patriotism.

Samburu County Woman Representative Maison Leshoomo said CORD’s proposed national dialogue is an attempt to intimidate the Government.

Ms Leshoomo said CORD leaders are not true nationalists as portrayed in their recent rally, adding that they are seeking a share of the Government.

“What was CORD doing with American flags in Uhuru Park? They should give Jubilee Government time in its operations,” she said.

Nominated Senator Naisula Lesuuda said the Government is too busy in ensuring its manifesto is achieved, and Kenyans expectations are fulfilled to have time to honour CORD’s demands.
