Wetang’ula, Mudavadi now trade brickbats

The war of words between Amani and CORD coalitions over the Bungoma senatorial seat has intensified, with Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula entering the fray.

While campaigning on his home turf of Kabuchai, Wetang’ula described Mudavadi as a leader struggling to remain relevant politically.

“Mudavadi has exhibited prolonged inconsistency, making him an unfit advisor on the politics of Bungoma. He cannot be trusted with leadership,’’ charged  Wetang’ula.

Wetang’ula further lashed out at Mudavadi, claiming that his dream to lead the country was far-fetched. “Mudavadi claims he wants to lead the community, yet he is being controlled by people from outside Western region,’’ said  Wetang’ula.

However, Mudavadi, through his spokesperson Kibisu Kabatesi, hit back and dismissed Wetang’ula as an opportunist who was taking advantage of others’ hard work.

He said despite being a CORD co-principal,  Wetang’ula had no chance of wielding any real influence since his position was third-tier.

“Wetang’ula must tell the community what he has done for them. He cannot claim to be a brave leader yet he has not fought for any national elective position,’’ said Kabatesi.
