Thirty eight per cent of Nyeri County is covered with forests; making it Kenya’s most forested county. It ranks lower – 26th – in HIV/Aids infection. Elgeyo-Marakwet, whose forest cover is 37 per cent, ranks second after Nyeri but comes in 39th in HIV/Aids infection.
Lamu’s forest cover of 33 per cent ranks it third in the country, but it is also the county with the second least HIV/Aids infection, behind only Wajir. On the other hand, Siaya leads as the least forested county, yet it is in fourth in HIV/Aids infection. Similarly, Kisumu, the second least forested county is third in HIV/Aids infection.
