The National Integrity Identity Management System (NIIMS) registration exercise is progressing well in Mombasa County.

Key government installations that offer critical services like the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) will have NIIMs staff visiting them at their respective work places to register them.

Yesterday, a team of NIIMS officials visited the KRA Southern Region headquarters at Long Room and started the registration process.

''We are calling on the general public to come out in large numbers to enrol for the biometric identity scheme that will propel Kenya into the digital age,'' Elungata.

He said NIIMS better known as ‘Huduma Namba’ will enable Kenyans to easily access vital government services and urged residents to support the programme.

Upon registration, one will be given a Huduma Namba which will assign a personal unique identification to facilitate issuance of government services.

Elungata said the 45-day exercise that seeks to register all Kenyans in the new digital database was also going on well in Kwale, Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Lamu and Tana River counties.

Mikindani area Chief Ima Matano Mzee who hosted the RC and the CC at the Bangladesh informal settlement said residents were embracing the programme and registration activities were going on well.
