The embattled Msambweni MP has claimed that he is being harassed by his party for supporting Deputy President William Ruto.

Suleiman Dori has vowed to use all legal mechanisms to defend himself.

Mr Dori, who is from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), also asked his fellow legislators from the Coast to support him.

“I won’t stop working with the national government for the sake of my constituents,” said Dori.

He also blamed Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, who supported him in the 2017 parliamentary race, of being behind his woes.

Dori and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa have been recommended for expulsion from ODM for gross misconduct.

They have been accused of insulting party leader Raila Odinga and defying warnings not to campaign for Mr Ruto’s presidential bid.

Ms Jumwa has also blamed Joho for her troubles. Local rivals have told the MPs to resign and seek re-election on a Jubilee ticket.
