Kwale, Kenya:  A public meeting attended by Kwale Governor Salim Mvury and his deputy Fatuma achani was briefly disrupted when a snake emerged on the podium.

Drama unfolded when a snake of about 30 centimeters emerged from where the governor and his deputy sat on Wednesday.

There was confusion as people ran in fear.

The deputy governor only agreed to return to the podium after the grass around it was slashed.

Mvurya and his deputy were meeting residents over a land dispute between them and Kwale International Sugar Company.

The meeting resumed after the interruption.
