“Jobs in offshore oil and gas rigs require highly skilled technicians and what TUM offers is just right for the job market,’’ Mwangura said.

Acquisition of the Marine Engine Simulator by TUM   aims at enhancing its status as a world-class university of engineering, science and technology.

This gives it competitive advantage over other institutions offering similar related courses. Students will be able to train through highly interactive sessions as well as monitor real time functions for normal machinery operations as well as simulated faults and emergency scenarios.

Modern ships are  sophisticated and this type of computer-based training shall provide students with knowledge to manage engine rooms efficiently.
