A court in Nyeri has sentenced a man to 20 years in prison for defiling his three daughters and impregnating one of them.

Nyeri Senior Resident Magistrate Mercyline Lubia convicted JMK after the prosecution proved he committed the offences.

According to the charges, JMK, on diverse dates between January 24, 2020, and May 10, 2021, at Lamuria village, Nyeri County, defiled JWN, TWM and MWM aged 15, 13, and 11 years respectively.

He denied all the charges and the prosecution produced six witnesses, including the girls' mother.

She testified that she attended a funeral and left her children with her husband. After three days she returned home and found the children unwell.

It wasn't until much later that she learnt what had been happening to her children in her absence.

“On May 10, 2021, my daughter aged 15 years old complained her leg was aching. I took her to the hospital, and she revealed that she had missed her monthly periods for two months. On being examined she was found pregnant. Upon interrogating her, she revealed that her father had been defiling her and her siblings,” the mother testified.

William Muriuki, a doctor at Nyeri Teaching and Referral Hospital, said he examined the three girls. They had broken hymens, and JWM was expectant. He produced a medical report before the court.

In his defence, JMK said he had no relation with the victims and that he was just a stepfather who was educating the girls.
