Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has been fined Sh75,000 by a Kiambu court for flouting Covid-19 rules.

Kuria was arrested in the company of Kiambu County employees on Monday night after they were found drinking past curfew hours in Karuri, Kiambaa.

The MP has hit the headlines repeatedly in the past after being arrested for various reasons.

In January 2020, he was arrested and taken to Kilimani Police Station to record a statement over allegations of assault.

The lawmaker was reported to have assaulted Joyce Wanja alias Wagichungumwa at Royal Media Services Studios where the two met as panellists to discuss the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

Wanja, an activist, who was then working as a media commentator claimed that Kuria descended on her with kicks and blows while she was in her line of duty preparing to go on air for Inooro TV’s ‘Kiririmbi’ show.

Earlier on in 2017, the MP was arrested and detained at the Pangani police station after made some remarks about the general election.

Kuria on his Facebook page had vowed to start a manhunt for at least 70,000 people who voted for ODM party leader then Presidential candidate Raila Odinga and another 200,000 who never voted at all.
