An organisation of Kenyans living in America has come to the rescue of a woman who was brutally attacked by her husband in their Tharaka Nithi home three weeks ago.

Kenya Men Empowerment Network (KEMEN) donated Sh46,000 to cater for Ms Charity Wairimu medical expenses.

This is after her plight was published in The Standard. The donation was handed over to the family by a representative from The Standard.

Ms Wairimu was attacked by her husband who sprayed pepper on her private parts and later sealed them with super glue.

The husband has since been arrested and charged in court.

According to the organisation spokesman Alfred Omondi, the group was touched by her plight and decided to raise money following her medical appeal

"We decided to raise whatever little that we had so that she can get medication. We are glad that she is now responding well to treatment," he said.

Ms Wairimu was thankful to the organisation saying the assistance had come in at a time when she was not having medicine.

"I want to thank our friends abroad as the funds will assist me to buy some medication that I was lacking," she noted.

The woman is recuperating at her Njabini home in Nyandarua County.

Kenyan Men Empowerment Network (KEMEN) is an association of Kenyan men living in the diaspora.

The group aims to create a forum where Kenyan men in diaspora address issues that affect them and find appropriate solutions to solve them.
