Police have launched investigation into the abduction of a 60-year-old widow in Kongu-ini village, Murang’a East District.

The detectives are burning the midnight oil working with mobile phone providers in efforts to arrest the gang that on Saturday night abducted Mary Wanjiru Kuria after forcefully gaining access into her house.

The gang is demanding Sh1 million ransom before releasing her.

Murang’a deputy OCPD Misheck Kiptum on Monday said detectives were  investigating on her whereabouts.

The victim’s farmhand, police said, has already recorded a statement.
