RwandAir's new aircraft lands in Mombasa on inaugural flight

The new RwandAir Boeing aircraft 737-800 NE touched down at the Moi International Airport (MIA) on its inaugural flight on Sunday.

The aircraft on a scheduled flight enroute to Dubai from Kigali is the only African airline to take delivery of a Boeing aircraft Next Generation 737 with new Boeing Sky interior.

RwandAir has deployed the aircraft to serve the Kigali–Dubai route via Mombasa and the Kigali–Johannesburg route.

During the flight to Mombasa, Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) presented special delivery bags containing information on destination Kenya as a tourist haven to passengers travelling on business class.

RwandAir Mombasa representative Joshua Douglas and KTB Mombasa Airport Customer Service officer Cynthia Kinyeru welcomed the plane.

"This aircraft is a marvelous piece of equipment to fly in. Onboard services are very efficient with inflight entertainment at your finger tips,’’ said Prof Wolfgang Thome, Uganda-based tourism travel expert who was on board the aircraft.

A second similar aircraft will be delivered before the end of the year.

The Boeing Sky interior introduces new cove lighting and curving architecture that creates a distinctive entryway.

Passengers in this aircraft enjoy more open cabin and soft blue-sky overhead simulated by light–emitting diode lighting.

RwandAir’s ambitious growth will see them add to their fleet the Boeing 787 Dreamliner within its current business plan.
