New retail software to cut inefficiencies

Leading Information technology firm, Compulynx has developed a local IT system for the country’s retail business.

The new system, known as Compulynx Retail (Core), will offer retailers with a single solution that covers the entire scope of business processes, from budgeting and forecasting through assortment planning, warehouse management and logistics to store operations and point of sales.

The firm’s CEO, Sailesh Savani, said Core signals a new chapter in user productivity as it reduces the inefficient, time-intensive processes that sometimes entail entering transactional data, running reports and report analysis before they can do their jobs effectively.

“Designed to deal with the basic function, Core enables a business’ entire operation to be controlled centrally for a company to work as a compatible whole resulting in higher efficiencies and reduced operational costs,” said Mr Sailesh.

The retail sector is one of the areas identified for rapid growth and development under the Government’s economic blue print, Vision 2030.

The sector is expected to expand substantially as Kenya’s economy moves towards a 10 per cent growth target by 2012.

“Following the introduction of Core system, the retail industry will experience complete and best-of-breed retail and business functionality, without the hindrance of a long integration process.  We will continue to develop solutions that give our customers the flexibility to react quickly and cost-effectively to the challenging demands of the market,” he said.

CompuLynx is reputed to have been Kenya’s pioneer software solutions exporter for its globally acclaimed iSmart retail solutions product.

 Online experience

Meanwhile, over 1000 engineers, product managers, entrepreneurs and web developers are expected to gather in Nairobi early next month for Google’s second annual web and mobile conference. The two-day conference, whose theme is the next generation of digital represents Google’s commitment to driving the web forward in Africa, and highlighting the entrepreneurial opportunities it brings.

Business is being redefined by access to information, more specifically access to the right information, at the right time. Local entrepreneurs will play a unique role in creating a dynamic online experience that will help spur the growth of businesses in Kenya,” said Google Kenya Country Manager Olga Arara-Kimani.
