Parents urged to help their children stop over-dependence on white collar jobs

Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi has challenged parents to ensure their children explore other avenues of earning a living instead of waiting for employment.

He urged children to engage in other activities to earn a living rather than wait to be employed.

“Let them seek opportunities like in procurement and supplies where the government has injected billions of shillings,” he pointed out

Mwinyi urged them to take advantage of arising employment opportunities.

He spoke during the launch of schedule of classes cum launch of this year’s Mombasa International Show 2019 held at the Jomo Kenyatta Show Ground in Nyali constituency, Mombasa County.

The legislator advised parents to tell their children that despite a lack of employment opportunities there are other avenues for them to make ends meet.

Mwinyi challenged the government to come up with a law for those who attain the age of marriage to undergo some training before they settle down.

“Time has come for religious leaders to ensure that couples go for a course in marriage before getting married to avoid conflict in the marriage institution,” he pointed out.

The MP said parents should caution the newly married on the consequences of broken marriages.

Mwinyi urged parents to be role-models and walk the talk so that they can be a better example for their children before getting married.

He said he is concerned with the rise in divorce cases due to a lack of counseling and education on marriage and the raising of families.

“Parents must embrace family values when bringing up their children as they have the responsibility of being role-models to them,” he said.

The lawmaker challenged religious leaders to come up with a learning institution where teenagers undergo some training before they get married.

He challenged parents to be part and parcel of the enterprise industry instead of waiting for their children to get employment.

“Time has come for parents to explore their options to the next level in life rather than depending on their children’s education certificates,” he pointed out.
