Local motor vehicle repairers lobby for private cars inspection jobs

Local garages have intensified their lobbying for the business of inspecting private vehicles in the country.

Under the umbrella of Kenya Motor Vehicle Repairers Association (Kemra), the garage owners said it would be a huge loss for the Government to give such work to foreign instead of local firms.

Speaking at Castle Royal Hotel over the weekend, the garage owners said awarding the vehicle inspection tenders to local firms instead of foreign ones would create jobs and retain the earnings in the local economy.

"This is big business and we do not want it to be given to foreign companies, which will take the earnings abroad," Ngore sai
