Ezekiel Mutua comes to the aid of producer who turned his bedroom into a studio

KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua has come to the aid of Kiptoo Rop, a music producer who was forced to turn his bedroom into a studio due to the tough economic times.

Rop’s story was highlighted on Citizen TV and he narrated how he was unable to pay rent at his usual workstation.

Mutua said he was touched by his story and they had already agreed on a plan to get him back to his studio.

“I have managed to speak to him and the KFCB North Rift Regional Manager Emmanuel Mbutu and we have agreed to help him go back to his studio.

“Such talented artistes with a positive attitude are the kind we promote. Rather than sit and complain, Rop did what a man has to do to feed his family. This is commendable,” said Mutua.

Rop, who is based in Uasin Gishu, stated that he was forced to look for a way to continue working despite the uncertainty surrounding businesses at the moment.

His young family has had to adopt to the new conditions since some recordings go late into the night.

“I was unable to pay rent at my usual work station. This compelled me to turn my bedroom into a recording studio so that I can continue providing for my family.

“The same place I sleep with family during the night becomes my office during the day. It is not easy, considering the fact that a bedroom is a private place,” he said.

Adding: “Some clients still want their music produced deep in the night when its bedtime. Some may not be comfortable coming into my bedroom.”

Although the decision did not sit well with his wife Christine Rop, she has slowly accepted their current situation.

"I just stay outside the gate with the young one. Sometimes I am tired, in pain and I just want to sleep but I can't since the house is busy," Christine said.
