Ezekiel Mutua’s message to ‘kids’ who insult him on social media

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua on Tuesday responded to those who often insult him for saying the truth.

Mutua stated that one day they will realise his only intention was to correct them and guide them in the right direction.

“Those kids who keep insulting me on social media for condemning their obscene content and immoral activities will one day thank me for raining on their parade.

“They will grow up and realise how lucky they are that somebody stopped them from sliding further into the abyss!” he said.

Earlier, Mutua strongly condemned the ‘Utawezana’ hit by Mejja and Femi One saying creators of such immoral content should not benefit from government funding.

The moral cop added that such artistes should never be allowed to perform in public because they promote immorality.

“The Government has a duty to protect children from premature exposure to adult content.

“Those producing, broadcasting, distributing or exhibiting such immoral content will not benefit from Government funding.

They will also never be allowed to perform in public events funded by the Government. Content doesn't have to be obscene to sell,” he remarked.

On a more positive note, Mutua lauded those who were creating good content that is both hilarious and informative, saying the media should promote such.

He maintained that these are the people who should benefit from government funding.

“I have seen a lot of edifying stuff that our media houses should be promoting. The content by PPMC is suitable for family viewing and listening. It's inspiring and gives tips on how to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

“I have seen some musicians who have composed inspiring songs about the COVID-19 pandemic. These are the artistes who should benefit from Government funds.

“Not perverts who think that content has to be dirty or sexualized to be entertaining,” he said.

Mutua reiterated that KFCB will continue monitoring content to ensure ‘unpalatable’ content is not rewarded.
