Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua, on Thursday gave a breakdown of the events that will lead up to the burial of Kenya’s former President the late Mzee Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.

Speaking to the press at Harambee House, Kinyua stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta will lead the nation in viewing of the body from 10.15 am on Saturday.

Those who wish to view the body will be given a chance to do so on Saturday, Sunday and Monday between 8am and 5pm.

The cortege will leave the funeral home at 8.05am on Saturday, February 8, 2020, and will proceed to Parliament Buildings, draped in the National Flag and escorted by Moi’s family.

The solemn procession will take the following route:

Valley road — Kenyatta Avenue — Parliament Road

A military guard of honour will be mounted on Parliament Road for the entry procession.

After lying in State for three days, on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, the procession will make its way from Parliament Buildings to Nyayo Stadium where the National Memorial Service will take place.

The service will be interdenominational presided over by clergy from all denominations.

The government continues to receive messages of condolence from foreign governments and is in the process of compiling the list of various Heads of State and other officials who have shown intent to attend the memorial service.
