Blogger sentenced to 3 years in jail for playing games on his phone inside a church

In a video that went viral, a 22-year-old Russian blogger was sentenced to three years in jail for allegedly playing Pokemon Go, and filming it.

Rusian Sokolovsky was detained since October and yesterday, he was given a suspended sentence of three and a half years for his actions.

The court sighted ‘Religious Hatred’ as his crime, since the church faithful felt offended by the ‘non-believer.’

Mockery of the Immaculate Conception, denial of the existence of Jesus and Prophet Muhammad and giving an offensive description of Patriarch Kirill were the direct reasons pointed out by the judge as to why Sokolovsky was detained and sentenced.

Since the Soviet Union fell, Russia has reformed quite extensively on matters religion, with majority of Russians now becoming Orthodox Christians.

The blogger was quick to thank reporters for having exposed the story, saying that he would have been sent to prison if it was not for them.
