In fact, it continues to rear its ugly head in both national and county governments. The latest State House Anti-Corruption and Accountability Summit, which degenerated into a blame game, speaks volumes about this dragon of corruption.

Ordinarily, the Judiciary is expected to prosecute those alleged to have committed economic crimes and other crimes. However, the Judiciary blamed the Attorney General, Director of Public Prosecutions, Director of Criminal Investigations, and Ethic and Anti-corruption Commission offices for shoddy work.

Needless to say, mega scams like Goldenberg, Anglo Leasing, Chickengate, NYS scandal among others that are still on Kenyans' minds have failed to produce the culprits due to this blame game.

Lack of proper investigation in both national and county governments has culminated in massive loss of hard-earned taxpayers' money.

Wasteful, irregular and unauthorised expenditure have resulted in inadequate infrastructure, unstable State debt and huge public sector wage bill.

Sadly, when money-wasting scandals become the norm, stunted economic growth is inevitable. The national leadership must act on corruption in order to halt the current gravy train.

The Jubilee government should not relent or shrink from doing what is right. Corruption in this country should be declared a national disaster like second-generation alcoholic drinks.

The buck stops with the Jubilee government leadership. The national leadership must not talk about corruption but rather walk the talk.
