The capture of a wild animal that resembles a leopard by Kenya Wildlife Service in Kakamega could be a pointer to more endangered species roaming the country. Could the ‚cat‘ be the endangered ‚cloud leopard? If it is - then this should be exciting news to scientists and animal lovers. Cloud leopards, which look like overgrown slender-cats are also found in dense monsoon forests of India where scientists are working hard to prevent their extinction by nurturing their offspring before releasing them to the wild. KWS should contact wildlife experts to establish the true identity of this ‘harmless cat.‘ The country could be sitting on a gold mine of rare animals or endangered species which could open doors for funding.
