Ruto, your foes are uniting to impeach you and not for 2022

Dear Dr Deputy President,

I hope this letter finds you well and in good spirits. Although my last letter to you went un-replied, I will not give up. Receive my unrequited greetings, Dr William Samoei Ruto.

I am a member of the ‘Mashambani Nation’. As a girl who was brought up in the countryside, I am not sure what exactly a Hustler is.

In ‘ushago’, or as we call it resop (reserve), we were told that hustlers are the thieves and wheeler-dealers of Nairobi, and that we should be cautious about them. Always.

So I write not as a follower, but as an interested but wary observer.

But I did not write to tell you this. You are a busy man, so I will get straight to the point.

The main reason I write this letter, is because there is something you are either not seeing, or are pretending not to see.

Coalitions are not being formed to defeat you in 2022. They are also not being formed to change the Constitution and increase executive positions to neutralise you.

These may be secondary intentions, but they are not the prime immediate reason.

Dr DP, coalitions are being formed to impeach you. The coalitions are a ‘disposable asset’ with one urgent purpose. Other things are details that will be dealt with later.

Of all the political schemes and clandestine projects this country has ever seen, this is the most obvious. It is big wonder that you are not seeing it.

Sir, Why else would the Jubilee ‘fumigation’ begin with the political leadership of Senate?

Raphael Tuju himself, the head prefect of the Jubilee Party, has even told us that Parliament is next.

The reconfiguration of leadership in the Houses, followed by a consolidation of parties through a coalition, puts in place the numbers and the parliamentary leaders necessary to spearhead the intention of stripping you of your position.

Think about it Sir. Coalitions are usually formed and then parliamentary numbers are consolidated post-election.

But this time, parliamentary numbers are being consolidated even before the coalitions have finished forming. This is called reverse engineering.

Your political foes played it forward and then rationalised it backwards. They have worked with the end in mind, and the plan is now unfolding.

Article 150 of the Constitution will be set in motion as soon as all the National Assembly ‘fumigations’ are complete.

And from there, an unstoppable impeachment process will glide like oil through Parliament and sail like the wind through the Senate.

Converging interests

By July, we will be seeing the second reading of your impeachment motion.

Sir, are you prepared for this eventuality?

But let’s assume that the coalitions against you are in formation with 2022 in mind.

That this is an equally important purpose.

Mr DP, it is a known fact that political interests attract each other. This time the Kenyatta, Odinga, Moi, Ruto, Mudavadi and Kalonzo interests appear to be converging.

The attraction is strong.

And since politics is about interests and not covenants, the basis of the convergence is forward looking.

Even those that have been lied to, cheated and betrayed in past alliances will get on board.

Their sights are set on the earthly rewards that will come with aligning with what they see as the ‘winning team’, the team with numbers.

After all, political wounds heal faster that a mild common cold.

In my last letter of August 2018, I observed that a succession war is about to be waged against you.

And that the army about to besiege you outnumbers your own army, because it was coming in the mammoth form of a ‘Government of National Unity’.

Now almost two years later, that time has come.

Now that you are squarely in the battlefield, will you take a defensive strategy or an offensive strategy?

Will you retreat and surrender, or will you do nothing?

Apologies for sending this cheerless letter, but as we say in the Mashambani Nation, all truth is good, but not all truth is good to say.

So I hope this truth was good to say.
