Cats invade Mfangano hotel, scare off customers

By PKEMOI NG’ENOH

Who let the cats out? A high number of cats turning up at a popular eatery along Mfangano Street has spooked patrons and waiters. Frequent customers to the pocket-friendly hotel complained to The Nairobian that they are getting irritated by the sight of felines feeding on leftovers beneath tables.

“I recently checked in at the hotel when I heard a certain band was performing. I ordered pilau for lunch, but more than three cats showed up under the table. I had to call a waiter to chase them away,” Ken Gitahi, a regular, said.  A waiter told The Nairobian they are baffled too by the number of cats appearing at the restaurant.

He said they do not know where the cats come from. “We only had one (cat) for eliminating rodents in the kitchen, but other cats appear during lunch and disappear when we close… maybe our business rivals send them,” the waiter said.
