Utalii College to launch security management course

Kenya Utalii College (KUC) has partnered with the Tourism Federation to launch a Security Management Course to sensitise its staff on security matters following increased terror threats.

Speaking in Nakuru during a graduation ceremony that saw 164 participants from Central Rift in the hospitality industry graduate after completing a refresher course, the college acting deputy principal Charles Gitonga said the course will equip hoteliers with necessary skills in case of any eventualities.

He said KUC has received a lot of co-operation from other government agencies in order to ensure the initiative becomes a success.

“Excellent services has become the hallmark of our establishments. KUC will ensure many employees benefit from these courses,” he said.

Clean-up exercise

Meanwhile, more than 100 members of the Asian community took part in a clean-up exercise of Lakeview estate as part of environmental conservation around Lake Nakuru National Park on Sunday.

The exercise was carried out in conjunction with county government, Nakuru Residents’ Forum and the Kenya Wildlife Service.

Speaking during the event, the county warden in charge of the park Jacob Olrale said poor management of solid waste in town has caused death of animals at the park.
