Narok: Four suspects arrested over murder of police officers

 

Four suspects have been arrested in connection to the murder of two police officers in Tepesonik village, Narok County.

The four, all related, are said to have attacked the police officers and reportedly killed them.

Transmara West area chief said that the two officers identified as Patrick Mkhunyi and Daniel Wairimu had visited the home of a retired prison officer and upon arrival, the wife raised an alarm which resulted in the attack.

“Police officers from Transmara West and the DCI visited the scene and established that two persons visited the homestead of Pius Lemiso Shonimeu today at about 6.30 am. The officer's wife raised an alarm alerting his children and members of the village who responded while armed with crude weapons including bows and arrows and fatally injured them,” the area chief said. 

The two officers were attached at the Nairobi Medium Prison Industrial area.

According to the chief, the motive of the murder and the reason for the visit remains unknown.

The four, Lemiso’s wife and her three sons were taken into police custody awaiting to be arraigned. 

Bodies of the two prison officers were removed to St. Joseph Mission Hospital Mortuary, pending a postmortem.
