Police in Narok County have retrieved the body of a boda boda operator who drowned on Christmas Day after being swept away by floods.

In a video that has since gone viral, the boda boda rider is seen trying to cross a flooded bridge along the Olalui - Kilgoris Road to the dismay of onlookers who had warned him of the looming danger.

The rider, who is yet to be identified, was swallowed by the raging floods.

Narok County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro confirmed the incident saying the body of the boda boda operator was retrieved on Wednesday, December 28.

"Police and local divers managed to find the body in the river and it was later moved to Nyamache mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial after identification," said Mutoro.

Additionally, the police commander said the motorcycle, whose number plates matched with those captured on the viral video, had been retrieved on Tuesday.

Police officers have since warned locals from attempting to cross the bridge with the current raging floods urging them to wait for the waters to subside.
