Isaac Ruto airlifted to Nairobi for specialised treatment

Former Bomet governor Isaac Ruto (pictured) has been taken to hospital over a flu. The Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader was airlifted to Nairobi for specialised treatment.

CCM Secretary General Albert Kochei said Ruto, who is contesting for the Bomet governor seat, has been unwell for the past one week.

"He had been unwell for the past one week due to acute flu which necessitated immediate evacuation from Bomet for thorough medical attention," Kochei said.

He said Ruto got ill during campaigns.

"He was experiencing a bad headache and fever. He must have been exposed to cold during the campaigns," Kochei said.

He said on Tuesday after casting his vote at Chebaraa Primary School in Chepalungu, Ruto was airlifted by Amref Flying doctors to Nairobi Hospital.

"He is doing well and responding to medication. He tested negative for Covid-19 and he should be discharged in about two to three days," Kochei added.
