Ruto pledges timely delivery of key projects during Western region tour

President William Ruto during the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a tuition block for St Anne's Bunyala Girls Secondary School in Budalangi, Busia. President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki have assured Kenyans that major infrastructure and development projects will be completed as planned. Speaking during their third day of a development tour in the Western region, the leaders said the projects aim to boost the economy and improve lives. A key project highlighted was the extension of a dyke for the River Nzoia flood control initiative in Budalang'i, Busia County. The dyke seeks to protect residents from flooding caused by Lake Victoria's backflow, allowing farming and other activities without fear of displacement. It will also safeguard facilities such as Musoma Primary and Secondary Schools, Mau Mau Trading Centre and Musoma Shopping Centre. "We are united with all leaders to move our country forward. Our focus is to serve the people, deliver the development agenda and improve the lives of all Kenyans," said Ruto. He criticised tribal politics, saying the government's priority is development and service delivery for all citizens. Kindiki noted the government's focus on key sectors including agriculture, fishing and sugarcane farming, which he said directly impact millions. "The President is working to ensure the country becomes self-sufficient and that every citizen benefits from these initiatives," he said. Ruto launched the construction of the Luanda Modern Market in Vihiga County allocated Sh 366 million, set to serve 2,000 traders. The market, expected to be completed in 18 months, will include sections for fresh produce, cereals, fish, ceramics, clothes and household goods along with modern amenities like an ICT hub, food court, creche and cold storage facilities. "This market is one of 400 such markets being constructed under the Kenya Kwanza manifesto," noted Ruto. "We are in a good economic standing now after addressing challenges like high interest rates and inflation. We are set to roll out key projects nationwide, ensuring no region lags in development." During the tour, Ruto laid the foundation stone for a tuition block at St. Anne's Bunyala Girls School in Busia County and launched the construction of the Khwisero Mother and Child Level 4 Hospital in Kakamega County, part of the government's broader healthcare improvement agenda. Kindiki reiterated the administration's commitment to job creation and economic growth, dismissing divisive tribal politics. "This is a development-oriented government focused on service delivery for all Kenyans," he said.
