Ex-Kigumo MP Jamleck enters race for Murang'a governor

Former Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau has entered the race to succeed Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria in next year’s General Election.

Kamau also called for unity in Mt Kenya region saying that will help in the negotiations for positions at the national level after the 2022 elections.

He said unity was key to ensure the region’s issues are adequately addressed.

While declaring his interest to run for governorship, Kamau said all development programmes initiated by Governor Wa Iria will be completed.

“A lot of youth in Murang’a are unemployed which should be tackled by those elected next year,” he told his supporters in Murang’a. 

“We must revive the economy after disruptions caused by the pandemic.” 

Kamau appreciated the dairy farming programme started by Wa Iria saying it has transformed the rural economy. In 2017, Kamau lost to Wa Iria in the party primaries.
