A Member of County Assembly in Kisii County is accusing South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro of attacking him during a church function they attended on Sunday.

.Moticho Ward MCA Evans Mokoro said they both attended a church function at Nyamarambe Catholic Church when the legislator and his supporters surrounded and attacked him after the function ended in what he initially thought was for consultation purposes.

Mokoro said that Osoro and his supporters attacked him breaking his ribs.

''Osoro demanded to know as to why I have been abusing him after which his bodyguard and other supporters joined in beating me up without any provocation from my side,'' said Mokoro. The MCA who spoke to the Standard after receiving treatment at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital said that he had reported the matter to the police and that his attackers are well known to him. He is appealing for their arrest and prosecution.

Osoro on his part denied attacking the MCA saying that it happened long after he had left the church function and that it can also not be confirmed that his supporters were behind the attack. The South Mugirango MP said that the MCA might have been attacked by youths who were disgruntled over his poor leadership.

'' It is true that Mokoro has been abusing me in various public functions and in Radio Stations but I am not behind his beating or was I nearby when he was attacked,'' said Osoro.

Kisii County Police Commander Jebel Munene said they have received the complaint from the MCA and that the Police have launched investigations over the matter.

''The matter has been reported to the police who are currently carrying out investigations,'' said Munene.
