This MP Adan Keynan... what a brilliant and forward-looking legislator

Elders MP Adan Keynan

NAIROBI: You might be forgiven to think Eldas MP Adan Keynan is always angry at something. He speaks very fast and in a frightening, shrill voice.

A casual look at the bills the honourable member has brought before the august House will attest to his determination in pushing for the welfare of his colleagues. He is fearless and stands out as the hatchet man for the National Assembly.

Right from The National Flag, Emblems and Names Amendment Bill, 2013 through to The Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Bill, 2014, Keynan is clearly thinking of his 'people'.

Keynan has done so much for Kenyans and it is taking a toll on him, going by the few strands of grey hair on his head.

In fact should he fail to get re-elected, he will need psychiatric help and a small monthly token of Sh100,000 to just get along. Such is the emotional price of patriotism.

His recent bill will, without doubt, take Eldas and the rest of the country to "soaring heights". The Parliamentary Service Bill, his latest act of patriotism, will give him a diplomatic passport.

The bill seeks to ensure MPs and their spouses get easy passage at the border, not lining up unnecessarily at customs at the airport and not to worry too much about baggage issues. After all they have more important national and regional issues to think about. No need to be harassed by junior airport orderlies.

That Keynan works tirelessly is not in doubt. He even wants a special police unit to watch over MPs as they discuss matters of national importance.

Keynan believes a parliamentary academy will serve his people better than building one in Eldas. At last his constituents will have a shot at getting diplomas, certificates and even degrees. They just have to make to it to the august House.

What a brilliant mind... such a forward thinking legislator. Clearly other legislators have a lot to learn from honourable Keynan.
