Villagers lynch granny in case of mistaken identity

Kisii, Kenya: A mentally challenged woman has been lynched on suspicion that she was a witch in Kisii County.

Keziah Monchari Okengo, 78, was hacked to death after she wandered into a homestead in Manyatta village, Gucha South. The owner of the homestead said the elderly woman knocked on his door at 2am prompting him to raise the alarm.

Villagers who responded killed the woman instantly.

Gucha South OCPD Moses Kanyi said the owner of the homestead was being held to help with investigations while three other suspects were at large.
