Kisii ASK show targets Sh12 million in revenue

KISII, KENYA: Kisii Agriculture Society of Kenya show has attracted 80 exhibitors as organisers anticipate to raise over Sh12 million from the fair.
The Southern Nyanza branch had by Thursday received over 60 exhibitors who will participate in this year's annual event that stated yesterday with several police officers being deployed at the showground and Kisii town to provide security.
Deputy President, William Ruto is expected to preside over the official opening of the four day event.
Speaking at the showground, branch chairman Julius Bosire said that the event has attracted several new exhibitors including; Universities and food producing industries.
Bosire said that the exhibitors range from banking, learning and industrial institutions among others.
This year's theme is Enhancing Technology in Agriculture and Industry for Food Security and National Growth.
The event will enable farmers experience new advances in technology and value addition so as to enhance better returns from agricultural activities.
The show will also educate farmers on the latest methods of farming including the putting up of relatively cheap greenhouses.
"We anticipate raising our collection this year. This is because we expect more exhibitors in the event which has increased competition for space. The construction of a perimeter wall around the venue will also boast security and seal loopholes," said Bosire.
The county government through its department of Sports and social services is constructing the Gusii stadium which, for years has been the venue for the ASK Southern Nyanza Branch show.
So far the entire wall has been done around the stadium and the organizers remain upbeat to collect more revenue.By yesterday exhibitors were done with their final touches on their stands.
The Chairman outlined a number of success including improved roads and sponsorship and also the presence of the Kenya Police band who will be entertaining guests at the main arena.
