United States International University Africa (USIU-A) Spartans will be playing their first match since the Commonwealth Games when they resume action in the women’s Kenya Hockey Union Premier League match at City Park Stadium on Saturday.
The Spartans were not in action due to a number of their players were in the Kenyan team that did duties at the Birmingham games two months ago.
The fourth-placed Spartans, with six points from three matches, will face off against struggling Amira Sailors on Saturday before entertaining newbies Dutch Flower Group Wolverines on Sunday.
Winless Sailors are currently bottom of the seven-team league with four points. They have played eight matches where they have drawn four and lost four.
Wolverines on the other hand are fifth with six points from one win and four draws. They have lost three matches so far.
Strathmore Scorpions ho will not be in action lead the table with 18 points from six wins in a row while reigning champions Blazers are second with 14 points from seven matches.
Lakers with no match this weekend lie third with eight points from six matches played.
Victory for Spartans will see the university side move third with 13 points and a point adrift Blazers who have played a game more.
In the men’s league, Western Jaguars who are unbeaten in their last six matches will entertain USIU-A Mashujaa and Strathmore Gladiators.
