Proportion of Kenyan adults fully vaccinated now at 7.2pc

As of yesterday, a total of 5,813,553 vaccines had so far been administered across the country.

Of these, 3,842,614 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 1,970,939.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was 48.2 per cent.

The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 7.2 per cent.

The government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.

Nairobi County is in the lead with 21.0% of the population fully vaccinated followed by Nyeri County 18.5%, Kiambu 11.7%, Nyandarua 9.9%.

On the Covid-19 situation today, 94 people have tested positive for the disease, from a sample size of 6,765 tested in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now at 1.4%.

Of the cases, 91 are Kenyans while three are foreigners. Fifty-five are men and 39 are women.

The youngest is a four-year-old child while the oldest is 83 years.

The total confirmed positive cases are now 254,151 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,757,038.

In terms of county distribution, Nairobi leads with 14, followed by Kericho 9, Kakamega 8, Kisii 8, Meru 7, Busia 7, Uasin Gishu 6, and Baringo 5.

Today 38 patients recovered from the disease with 33 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme, while five are from health facilities countrywide.

The country's total recoveries now stand at 247,527, of whom 199,971 are from the Home-Based Care and

Isolation programme, while 47,556 are from various health facilities countrywide.

One patient has succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 5,315.

A total of 405 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 1,059 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme.

Thirty patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 15 of whom are on ventilatory support and 15 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.
