As Harambee Stars prepare for their first Africa Cup of Nations finals since 2004, they carry the hopes of millions of Kenyans who want to see their National Team regain its lost glory on the international platform.

Stars have therefore been working hard under Sébastien Migné according to the video clips being released by the country’s Football Governing Body (Football Kenya Federation).

The federation, in collaboration with official sponsors Betin, have been teasing fans back home with short behind the Scenes training clips of the national team players being taken through their paces since they touched down in France for preparations ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Apart from serious training, Stars also have the fun side of things. Many video clips have been released by FKF but this one stood out.

The team’s vice-captain Musa Mohamed was on Thursday forced to take swimming lessons on his birthday in a pond as stars joked around during a break from a busy training schedule in France.

In the FKF and Betin video, the Nkana FC defender is seen being ‘forcefully’ dragged by his teammates as he desperately tries to resist before being thrown into the pond.

“On Thursday was our Assistant Captain’s birthday, and he went through the usual ritual. What’s your message to Musa Mohamed as we wish him a happy belated birthday?” wrote FKF in the caption.

Stars are preparing for Friday’s friendly match against Madagascar as part of their preparation for what is considered the ‘most important tournament’ for the nation in years. The camp is reportedly full house after striker Michael Olunga linked up with the 27-man squad in France.

His lateness to the camp was due to the tussle between FKF and his club, Japan’s second tier side Kashiwa Reysol over his release. The national coach Migne was delighted to finally get his tar man but he will not start in the warm-up match against Madagascar due to his long journey exploits.

"I am happy because at least I have my full squad in camp. This is good for me and my staff because now we can work tactically," said Migne.

"It is risky playing Olunga in the first eleven because he travelled overnight from Japan. But he could come on as a second-half substitute," he added.

The friendly match will be played at Stade Robert-Robin in Paris from 9 pm East African Time.
