Musician Sammy Boy. We are living at a time when the online streets are unforgiving. Once they decide to go ham at you, they leave no stone untouched; this was witnessed a couple of weeks ago. Netizens have had all manner of questions regarding Sammy Boy's source of wealth which he is never shy to flaunt at any one given time. He claims he is a self-made young millionaire on the rise. His credibility has been put into question time and again. Sammy Boy Kenya is a budding musician and entrepreneur. Still, controversy has been courting him with the latest being when his alleged nude pictures surfaced on social media where he repeatedly defended his past working as a webcam model. "It was around seven or eight years ago. I was a poor man trying to survive. I fell in love with someone who I thought would take me to the US and needed me to record the video. I would record the clips and get a little money," he defended himself back then when the pictures were circulating. These were some claims that he denied, but in response to the controversy, he stated that "some of the stunts I create myself but some are fueled by detractors and people who do not wish me well and want me to fall." That aside, Sammy Boy lives large, if the photos shared on IG are anything to go by. The 25-year-old claims to be a successful Forex trading guru, but some people do not believe he is a legit trader. He has been accused of conning people time and again. "I am a legit entrepreneur with a mindset of a rich person, so I act and work towards my goal, but I only show people what they want to see on social media," he says. He claims his rise to the top has mainly been undocumented, but his story started being glossy. Apart from all the shenanigans surrounding him, he recently tossed himself into the music world and released his new single, Zoza. Pretty a newcomer in the music world, he divulges he has always been writing music although he had previously not given it much thought. "I have always wanted to do music. I had written a couple of songs about seven years ago, but had no resources. But this time around, I felt I was ready since I can afford the production costs," he says. His musical skills though still developing, Zoza is a banger and has accrued quite a sizeable viewership since its release. Being in the limelight has not deterred his musical career. "Being in the spotlight has not impacted my life in any negative way. It has created a positive impact towards my business and grown my brand. As an artiste, I wanted the light to be able to air my music to reach a wider market. And clearly, it worked," he says. Rags to riches Although his life looks rosy now, Sammy has also experienced hardship. At some point, he claims he was so broke he could not even afford rent. "I had nothing. I was locked out of my house, and water and electricity were disconnected. This was when I realised I was all alone and that nobody cared apart from God. I swore never to be broke again," he says. Fueled by the hunger to make it in life, he says he began to think about ways he could support himself while still a student instead of relying on his mother, who had other children to care for. After conducting extensive online research, he learned about trading. He gradually started to make a few pennies, which helped him support himself in Nairobi. He got good at it over time, and when he was still quite young. "This is when I bought my first car, a Toyota. And I was able to take care of myself, my siblings and eventually build my mother a house in Kisii. Despite what people see on social media, life has not always been straightforward," he says.
