End Konza boundary row, Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu told

Makueni, Kenya: Makueni leaders marked Madaraka Day with a renewed call for a quick solution to the Konza Techno city boundary row that has delayed it’s take off.

The leaders, including Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Deputy Governor Adelina Mwau, MPs Regina Ndambuki, Daniel Maanzo and the Members of the County Assembly yesterday trooped to Malili, a few metres from the Konza city site where they warned the Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu against politicising the project.

Kibwana said leaders from Makueni have formed a committee to be chaired by Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, deputised by Ms Ndambuki, the Kilome MP.

He said the team would engage Cabinet secretaries for Lands and ICT to reach a consensus on the legal boundary which is clean - that Konza is in Makueni.

They also want talks with leaders from Machakos and Kajiado so as to issue a joint statement to say there is no dispute in the region over the location of Konza.

The committee is also expected to lobby the President to fast track development of Konza and keep the wider Makueni community informed on happenings around the city.

Kibwana said the choice of Malili as the venue for their Madaraka Day celebration was meant to send a strong message that leaders and residents of the county had grown tired of the confusion around Konza and want its development expedited.

Ndambuki said political leaders from Machakos and Makueni counties recently held a meeting with the President where the Konza boundary and development plan was concluded. He said Uhuru would soon commission its construction.
