NCIC says some political analysts are biased creating tension

NAIROBI, KENYA: The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) on Thursday called on media owners to vet political analysts before inviting them in live shows

NCIC chairman Francis Kaparo noted that some analysts are biased only championing their agenda without knowing the implication of their statements, especially when Kenya is at political crisis.

He also expressed commission’s concern over emergence of fake news on social media platforms.

“The commission is concerned with the emergence of fake news on social media that is intended to incite, misinform and manipulate public reaction. Those involved should stop that habit immediately,” said Kaparo urging public to treat sensational news with caution.

He called on IEBC to follow the law in providing free and fair election. “IEBC must realize that there is a direct link between ability to conduct free and fair election and peace and stability in this country,” he noted.

“Today as never before, the peace fabric of Kenya is intricately interwoven with the conduct of credible election hence decision taken by IEBC must have a direct impact in shaping Kenya’s future.”

Kaparo urged the political class to cooperate with the electoral body and stop issuing threats to the commission
