Former ICT Principal Secretary Joseph Tiampati's gubernatorial bid suffered a major blow after Maasai cultural chiefs opted for his rival claiming that the latter was the "peoples' favourite".

The 26 cultural heads from all the Maasai clans unanimously endorsed Narok West MP Patrick ole Ntutu to challenge Governor Samuel ole Tunai come 2017 sparking a political duel in the county.

They suggested that the vocal Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno should be his running mate.
