Wife protests as Kirima flown out

Former Starehe MP Gerishon Kirima has been flown to the United Kingdom for specialised treatment.

This emerged as his third wife, Teresiah Wairimu, accused a minister of helping the children sneak the businessman out of their Kitisuru home.

Mr Kirima, who is suffering from diabetes, was flown out of the country as Wairimu made efforts to see him.

The former MP is embroiled in a court battle with his children over management of his vast estate.

Following the latest development, High Court judge, Justice Aggrey Muchelule ordered a case filed by Wairimu to be mentioned on September 21.

Sole intention

Wairimu obtained orders allowing Kirima’s doctors to see him at a Nairobi hospital where his children took him.

"I am convinced their sole intention is to have mzee declared a person of unsound mind," she said.

Justice Fred Ochieng had only issued orders allowing Dr Eva Njenga and Dr Peter Mungai to see Kirima at the hospital.

Doctors who were attending to Kirima were also ordered to determine if there was sound professional reason to bar or allow Wairimu from Kirima.

In her affidavit filed in court, she claimed her husband was taken from their Kitisuru home in Nairobi on August 8, while she was talking to Water Minister Charity Ngilu in another room within the house.

Called me aside

The minister, and Maendeleo Ya Wanawake patron, Mrs Jane Kiano, had visited the home and had a meeting with Kirima, the children and wife. "In between the meeting and after Mrs Kiano had left, the minister called me aside and asked to talk to me in an adjacent room, which I obliged but little did I know that this was a ploy," she said.

Wairimu said when she returned to the meeting room, Kirima’s children, Stephen and Wanjau with the assistance of their sisters and Administration Policemen, bundled Kirima in a waiting ambulance and drove off.

She alleged Dr Frank Njenga and Dr David Oluoch checked him in at Nairobi Hospital’s St George Ward, under the name John Juma.

Apart from orders from the doctors to see Kirima, Wairimu had also applied to stop the Criminal Investigations Department, through the Attorney General’s office from investigating or charging her, pending hearing and determination of her case.
