Chinese man Throws Coin into Plane Engine for 'Good Luck'

A superstitious Chinese passenger is facing criminal charges for throwing a coin into a plane's engine to wish for a “good luck”.

The company, ironically named ‘Lucky Air,’ said on its press release on Friday, that the incident caused the plane to be grounded overnight at great expense.

“The incident caused a direct economic loss of nearly 140,000 yuan (almost P1.1 million), and our company will press charges against the passenger in accordance with the law,” Lucky Air said.

According to the report, the passenger identified as Lu admitted to tossing coins into the plane's engine before boarding the aircraft.

The 28 year old man was later detained by police for seven days following the bizarre incident.

All 162 passengers were forced to board a different flight the next day to their destination in Yunnan province.
