Casual flower arrangement

Known more widely by its common name, 'Busy Lizzie', impatiens has become very popular in the last few years as a windowsill plant rivaling the more common geraniums and begonias.

Unlike a formal arrangement, this is a free-spirited, casual flower arrangement.

It looks different from the stiffly formal, predictable arrangements found at most florist outlets and you need minimal skill level to create it.

Select three flowers in complementing shapes and colours and put them in a vase. Find some fillers to complement the arrangement.

Stems should be cut two or three inches above the top of the container and should appear informal so that they breathe easy and not be too tightly-held together.

Arrangements should last for a week or two if you trim the stem tips every other day and can be placed on a coffee table, shelf top or on a windowsill.
