Donkeys now too expensive for many

This woman was spotted at Maili Sita area in Bahati, Nakuru County on July 23,2017 carrying a baby and a huge load. Majority of women folk in the area are dependent on donkeys for rural transport and economy, however the soaring prices of donkeys in the region due to its high demand for meat and skin export has made it almost impossible to afford a donkey. Not leaving anything behind.

This woman was spotted in Maili Sita, Nakuru County, yesterday carrying a child and two huge sacks.

Local residents generally depend on donkeys for transport but with the soaring costs of the beasts of burden due to an increased demand for their meat and skin for export, many can no longer afford them.
