Wind park power company now sells off its properties

The management of the Kinangop Wind Park Power project has finally agreed to do away with the project and is now selling off equipment.
The company intended to put up a wind power project in, Kinangop, Nyandarua that would cost Sh 12 billion and would generate 60.8 mega watts.
The company has now advertised for bidders to purchase the equipment that it had already acquired for the project.
In a paid up advert, the company which is under receivership plans to sell off the machines among them blades, tower sections, Nacelle, Hub, Padmounted transformers and other accessories.
According to the joint receiver managers, this was after the company faced financial constrains that saw it close business.
"'The project faced various financial and operational challenges leading to the recent appointment of Receivers by the company's secured lenders, in order to realise the various charged assets. The receivers would now like to invite interested parties to submit their now binding EOLs in the purchase of the assets," read the advert.
Since its inception in 2004, the project has faced various challenges with a section of local residents and leaders opposing it.
The disagreements have seen protests by residents with the recent incident being in late last year that saw two people lose their lives during a public demonstration.
Kinangop MP Mburu Kinyanjui was the first political leader to oppose the project until last year when he said that he had met the investors who had confirmed that the project was viable and the residents who offered land would be well compensated.
