Boost for tourism as more facilities set up

The establishment of two beach resorts in Mombasa County has been cited as good tidings for the troubled tourism industry.

Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers (KAHC) said that the opening of Pride Inn Paradise Beach Resort & Convention Centre and Sun Africa Beach Resort is refreshing boost to the industry.

“It is refreshing to see local investors adding to the existing touristic facilities,” KAHC Coast Branch Executive officer, Mr Sam Ikwaye said. He added that in the past, the Coast region has experienced more hotel closures and change of entities than new investments.

“We salute the investors for their timely action and this is a clear sign of confidence,” he said.Ikwaye said that conference tourism is emerging and there is need for adequate infrastructure to support the projected growth.

Pride Inn Paradise Beach Resort & Convention Centre General Manager, Mr Imtyaz Mirza said the opening of the resort has filled the long-awaited gap in beach tourism.
