Major chemical makers to visit Kenya

More than 80 industrial chemical makers have confirmed attendance in an exhibition slated for November 5-7, 2014. The event will provide opportunity for industrial chemical value chain players to scout for new business.

The event organisers said players of chemical products such as plastics, packaging, paints, paper, pharmaceuticals and glass industries will be in the country to share their experiences with Kenyan manufacturers.

The event is organised by Basem Abotaleb general manager, 2Art Fair Event and Exhibition Company from Egypt and ikapamedia east Africa. During a media breakfast launch of the 4th Edition of the Kenya Chemex 2014 Exhibition in a Nairobi hotel, Abotaleb said majority of investors will be from Middle East, India, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Uganda, Tanzania, Hungary and Europe.

Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and industry (KNCCI) chairman Kiprono Kittony who was the chief guest said Kenya is in dire need of investment to tackle ills facing the economy such as increasing unemployment.

“For our local products to be competitive in the international market, there is need to enhance value addition,” said Mr Kittony.
