Assistant minister for Youth and Sports, Wavinya Ndeti, has announced she will pay tax just like the rest of Kenyans.

Revealing this while addressing a series of meetings in Yatta and Masinga constituencies, Ms Ndeti said it was unfortunate for parliamentarians to resist paying tax while other Kenyans of low income were paying the same.

She warned her fellow MPs against fighting the law that requires them to pay their taxes and instead lead by embracing these laws.

''As the country enters the dispensation of the new Constitution every one of us should be ready to face and accommodate challenges in order to achieve our goal'' she added.

The legislator drew the attention of crowds she addressed in Mbingoni primary school in Yatta and Kyua market in Masinga, when she announced her willingness to vie for the seat of governor in Machakos county.

Many women who were at the meetings vowed to support Wavinya’s candidacy saying women in the leadership of the country had been discriminated against for long and it was time to be given a chance to demonstrate their leadership ability.

Ms Ndeti urged youths to apply for the Youth Funds to economically empower themselves.
